AN agonising finish ended the hopes of York GC's Carolyn Kirk capturing the Yorkshire Veteran Ladies championships at Wakefield GC.
The York player was beaten by previous two-time title winner Pat Wrightson of Huddersfield by one hole. Kirk had fought back to all-square at the 15th hole only for her opponent to edge ahead once more on the 17th.
A half on the last hole secured the Huddersfield player her third veterans' crown.
Earlier, Kirk had eliminated number one seed Julia Smith (Rotherham) in the semi-final.
