DOUBLE glory belonged to Heworth GC in the York Union of Golf Clubs' coveted 1900 Charity Bowl tournament.
First place in the event went to the Heworth pairing of Paul Winterburn (9 handicap) and former professional footballer Nick Bissett (6). They scorched round the Forest of Galtres course for a magnificent score of 60, three ahead of their nearest rivals.
Count-back alone denied Heworth celebrating a one-two as club captain John Smith (13) and professional Steve Burdett, playing off scratch, were edged into their place by York pairing of John Hunter (5) and Alister Taylor (6).
But the 1900 Charity Bowl went to Heworth based on their two best scores totalling 123, well ahead of both Easingwold and host club Forest of Galtres who tied with 132.

He and Hoyles now advance to the regional final on 26 May at Seaton Carew, where they'll play one round of better-ball medal play.
The winners of 16 regional finals throughout Great Britain and Ireland will
enjoy an expenses paid luxury trip to compete at San Lorenzo from 3 - 7 September.
Hoyles, 39, has been at York for four years.

The eighth annual BATA Farmers Golf Day will be played next Tuesday, while the Pocklington Chamber of Trade Commerce Day will be hosted on Wednesday, June 2.
