CHAMPION jockey Kieren Fallon, who spent three days at York this week, returns to the county tomorrow and has excellent prospects of figuring on the scoreboard at Ripon.
Fallon has a number of fancied mounts and is selected to complete a double on Silvaline and Magnetic Pole.
The latter is trained by Sir Michael Stoute, who gave Fallon the leg-up on North Light on Knavesmire on Wednesday when the colt promptly entered the Derby picture with a workmanlike win in the Dante Stakes.
Magnetic Pole is not in the same league as North Light, but he remains a promising three-year-old, who should be all the better for his recent runner-up effort at Bath. That form has since been boosted by Iktitaf, who finished third at Bath, and scored next time out at Chester.
Magnetic Pole, who has raced only twice in his life, is open to plenty of improvement. He should take all the beating in the True Temper Maiden Stakes.
Silvaline will have Fallon's services in the Middleham Trainers' Association Handicap over ten furlongs.
The five-year-old has run two decent races, at Newbury and Epsom, lately and has less on her plate here. A bold show is anticipated.
Warthill trainer Mel Brittain can capture the featured £18,000 toteplacepot Fillies' Rated Handicap with Consensus, the mount of Tyrone Williams.
Disadvantaged by the draw when unplaced at Beverley last time, Consensus had previously run well to finish fourth to Steel Blue at Doncaster. Her high draw tomorrow should enable her to bag the far side rail, which is often the place to be at Ripon on easy ground.
Hambleton trainer Kevin Ryan is going well this season and he can add to his tally with Distinctly Game in the Giving For Sight Maiden Stakes.
A close-up second on his debut at Hamilton earlier in the month, Distinctly Game, who is bred to be a sprinter, can underline the benefit of that outing by going one better here. Neil Callan has the mount.
The nap vote is awarded to Alaloof in the Garden Racecourse Handicap over a mile and a half.
A slow start counted against John Dunlop's filly at Bath last time when she stayed on strongly in the closing stages to finish sixth to Another Choice.
Tomorrow's extra two furlongs should suit her ideally and, provided she does not give her rivals start again, she should be hard to beat.
Tomorrow's other two meetings are both over the sticks. At Worcester, the promising Nyrche (2-10) has excellent prospects on behalf of Alan King and Robert Thornton.
Tomorrow's tips:
