YOU have recently highlighted several cases of serious assault, theft and damage to property, where the courts were apparently inhibited from imposing adequate sentences by the age of the young offenders.
At the same time proposals have been discussed for lowering the age for voting and standing as a Parliamentary candidate.
Should not age of eligibility to vote for any Act be linked to a liability for any consequences defined in the Act?

...PERHAPS the youth responsible for the damaged bus could ask his mate to turn him in (May 12)?
If he reads about the bus company's reward he would realise they could split the £100 between them while he would expect nothing more serious than a telling-off from our local magistrates.
Who said crime doesn't pay?
