EVERGREEN York dance teacher Miss Isobel Dunn will present her Dance Flash show for the 58th year next weekend at the Grand Opera House, York.

In all, 150 dancers ranging in age from three to 80 will take part in the 2.30pm and 7.30pm performances next Saturday, when Miss Dunn's showcase will incorporate ballet, tap, national, jazz and contemporary dance routines.

School teacher Katharine Fisher, winner of a choreography competition earlier this year, has choreographed a Chinese dance for the show, based on Tai Chi movements.

Catherine Finta, who trained initially with Miss Dunn before attending the Italia Conti School in London, has returned to the fold to teach dance part-time (she is also a qualified accountant). This former dancer on cruise ships has taught a Mary Poppins dance to a children's group and vigorous Charleston routine to some "not-so-young" dancers as her contribution to Dance Flash 2004.

Kim Fellows and Yvonne Hoque have arranged jazz and tap dances to tunes from Grease, Fosse and Saturday Night Fever. Kim is a professional dancer, having trained at the London Studio Centre, and is at present dancing in cabaret at the Grand Hotel, Scarborough.

The youngest children will dance with three ducks to the theme tune to BBC Radio 4's farming soap opera, The Archers, and the five-year-old pupils are to perform the Bees' Wedding. Other ballet routines will include three lyric pieces by Grieg and Serenade For Strings.

"We hope that, once again, we shall be able to give a sizeable cheque to Martin House Hospice for Children," says Miss Dunn.

Tickets cost £9, £7 or £5, with concessions available, on 0870 606 3595.
