A BOOK highlighting different aspects of a North Yorkshire village has been produced by local schoolchildren.
Youngsters from Years Five and Six at Sheriff Hutton Primary School have written and illustrated the book called A Walk Through Sheriff Hutton.
The book looks at the history of the area with information on a trail around the village, including the castle ruins, the old village school, the conservation area and the parish church.
The project was run by class teacher Matt Brown and classroom assistant Anni Bradley.
It was written within the children's history, citizenship and geography lessons.
A spokesperson for the school said: "The children have been absolutely amazed by the whole thing.
"We have had some help from people in the village, but a lot of the book consists of hand-drawn pictures by the children."
The book will be officially launched at a special event at the school on Sunday, May 23, at 3pm.
