THE monarchy's golden age is currently being celebrated, with this week's 50th anniversary of the Coronation of Elizabeth II.
So for today's Yesterday Once More we are going back to the silver age, Jubilee time 1977.
During the Silver Jubilee, Britain was awash with red, white and blue and York made sure it didn't miss out on the knees-up.
Picture one shows smiles all round as residents of Frances Street, Fulford, prepare to party.
Our second shot shows cheeky chappie William Oaten, of Roman Close, Tadcaster, enjoying the jubilee fun, decked out specially by his dad, a former Coldstream Guards master tailor.
Next we see Heworth children lining up for the fancy dress parade. The young man in the front sent out as a Homepride flour grader doesn't look too impressed with his mum's choice of outfit!
The fourth picture shows Wellington Street, one of York's longest, fluttering with beautiful bunting as the children sit down to enjoy their jubilee jelly and ice cream.
And finally we see how jubilee time rekindled the Dunkirk spirit in some people.
The bunting these ladies are displaying was all hand-made by York pensioner Alfred Pfluger, 72, of Vine Street.
Yards of it were used to bedeck Finsbury Street, Bishopthorpe Road, making it one of York's first streets to be jubilee-ready.
Copies of pictures of the past can be ordered from the Evening Press.
