LADIES - strap on your best Manolos. It's here. The answer to your Sex And The City fantasies. No, not Mr Big. It's The Living Room, the most chic venue to hit York since, well, ever.

The brand has a top notch reputation, with David Beckham's autobiography citing it as his favourite restaurant in Manchester, and the York branch is set to open its 250-capacity bar and 165-seater restaurant to the public on Monday.

But this is not like any other chain. This is definitely where Carrie and co would hang out if they lived in old York.

The dcor is Manhattan with a colonial twist, with a spectacular balcony overlooking the River Ouse, and a lavishly stocked bar.

A white baby grand piano graces the lively bar area, with drinkers and diners enjoying live music every night of the week.

What is particularly special about this place is the atmosphere - sophisticated without being pretentious, high quality but not high price, classic yet modern at the same time.

As one of the lucky few to have enjoyed a sneak preview, I can report that the food is divine and the 150-strong cocktail list is going to keep me and my friends busy for a very long time.

In short, it has a buzz about it. I give you my solemn vow that you won't fail to be charmed.

Opening hours: Mon-Tues 10am-11pm, Wed-Sat 10am-midnight, Sun 10am-10pm.

u HOUSE, trance and hard dance night Turbulence returns to York on Wednesday with an exclusive set from Judge Jules.

Turbulence held its first event at Ikon & Diva in February 2002 but has not run a night in York for the past year.

Promoter Paul tells me that the Turbulence team have really gone to town for this re-opening party, with loads of stunning visuals, fire breathers, stilt walkers, loads of drinks promotions and the infamous Turbulence bunny.

Turbulence, at Ikon & Diva, Clifton Moor, Wednesday, 9pm-2.30am. Admission £8 or £9 after 11pm. Contact 07985 475897 for more information.
