ABSTRACT oil paintings by York artist Mary Greene go on show tomorrow at Pyramid Gallery, Stonegate, York.

Mary is following up her November exhibition, this time presenting new paintings, mixed media, work and collagraphs, and she will be attending tomorrow's opening from 11am to 2.30pm.

"I use a range of drawn marks, colour and form to explore how sound, made with the human voice with its qualities of energy and feeling, can be conveyed in visual imagery."

The Glass Collection 2004 by British studio glass makers is on display too, along with figurative oil paintings and drypoint prints by Trevor Price. New names among the 14 glass artists are Martin Andrews, Bob Crookes, Sarita Lavender, Joanne Mitchell and Layne Rowe, alongside past participants Charlie Macpherson, Ronald Pennell, Colin Reid and Kevin Wallhead.

Price, meanwhile, is a member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers who worked as a printmaker for Brenda Hartill before setting up his own studio in 1995 and has since had many solo exhibitions.

His prints at Pyramid are mostly drypoints that use zinc or Perspex plates and are generally figurative with settings of Cornwall, where he grew up. His work often features male obsessions, reflections of his own life or fantasy with a sense of fun, and his influences are Picasso, Henry Moore, Henri Rousseau, Elizabeth Frink and Cecil Collins.

This exhibition runs from this weekend until July 5.
