The latest round of Classic Trials take place at Lingfield tomorrow, while Yorkshire racecourses stage a double-header of meetings at Beverley in the afternoon and Thirsk in the evening.
Channel 4 cameras will be at Beverley to show four races, most notably the £20,000 Coachman Caravans Conditions Stakes, which offers Bahamian Pirate the chance to steal the thunder under Kevin Darley.
A high-class horse when conditions are right, David Nicholls' sprinter has plenty going for him tomorrow over a stiff furlongs on his favourite soft ground.
Now a nine-year-old, Bahamian Pirate is not as good as he once was, but he remains a useful speedster and he may still have the necessary firepower to win this valuable curtain-raiser.
The Coachman VIP Lady Amateur Riders' Handicap over ten furlongs looks a good opportunity for Melodian to shine for Warthill trainer Mel Brittain and rider Carol Williams, arguaby the best female amateur jockey around, who is worth pounds in races such as these.
A winner on soft ground last time out at Pontefract, Melodian, a mud-lover, has conditions in his favour again here. A follow-up looks on the cards for my Nap selection.
Tomorrow's main action is at Lingfield, where Tim Easterby will be represented by Golden Nun in the totesport Chartwell Fillies' Stakes over seven furlongs.
A good recent run in Ireland, where she finished second in a Group 3 contest at the Curragh, confirmed Golden Nun's well-being.
The £60,000 Gallagher Group Derby Trial has attracted only five runners, and although North Light from Sir Michael Stoute's stable, and Five Dynasties representing Aidan O'Brien, are promising newcomers they could find difficulty in handling the fit and in-form Hazyview, trained by Neville Callaghan.
Winner of his last three starts, Hazyview is improving fast. His latest victory, at Sandown, saw him get the better of Red Lancer, who yesterday bolted home by five lengths in the Chester Vase.
At Thirsk, Tap should not be overlooked in the Quadnetics Handicap. Ian Emmerson's charge returned to action in a blaze of glory at Musselburgh last week when getting the better of Mount Royale.
