A NEW fans' group the 'York Minstermen' has been founded chiefly to galvanise future support for the football club.
The organisation hopes to offer supporters a series of interesting fundraising events, away travel to selected matches and a voice for York-based supporters, which the York Minstermen feel has been lacking in recent times outside of the Supporters' Trust.
An honorary president is being approached but, so far, the group have appointed the following committee: secretary/treasurer: Dave Potter, membership secretary: Carol Abel, Trust Board representative: Kirsten Gillies, travel organiser: Frank Ormston, communications officer: Phil Howden.
Volunteers are also needed and anybody who would like to get involved, can e-mail yorkminstermen@fsmail.net
An inaugural meeting is planned for July at Bootham Crescent's Social Club.
Harrogate Minstermen will present David Merris with their Player of the Year Trophy on Monday night.
Merris will receive the trophy during the annual presentation night at Knaresborough Working Men's Club, where the doors will open at 7pm.
Harrogate band R/evolv, who have recently been signed up by London-based Platinum Records and will release their first single 'Useless' next month, will play throughout the evening.
There will also be a buffet and prize-winning opportunities.
All members and non-members are welcome and admission is free.
