YORKSHIRE have targeted an overseas player to fill in while Australians Darren Lehmann and Ian Harvey are away and his identity could be revealed today.

Although his namewas being kept under wraps, it is understood that they are going for a replacement batsman and it would not be too surprising if he turned out to be another Aussie.

Lehmann previously played a big part in securing the temporary services of Matthew Elliott and Damien Martyn and he will no doubt have liaised between Yorkshire and their new signing.

It was rumoured recently that Yorkshire were interested in bringing back Michael Bevan to Headingley but director of cricket David Byas said at the time that no such plans were then in place.

Operations director Geoff Cope said yesterday: "We have spoken to the player we want to sign and he has agreed to join us but at the moment he is seeking permission from his club and his country's Board.

"I hope that he will be able to come back to us very shortly and say 'Yes' and as soon as there is a positive outcome we will release details."
