AN HISTORIC York attraction is opening its doors to give residents a free glimpse inside.

Between Saturday and next Thursday, York Residents Card holders will be given free entry to the National Trust's Treasurer's House, in Minster Yard.

The award-winning Treasurer's House first started welcoming visitors over 100 years ago when the owner's butler showed people the delights of the house.

Visitor services manager Helen Young said: "If we had a pound for every York resident who has told us that they have live in York for years, but never visited the house we would be very rich indeed."

Entry to the house is between 11am and 4.30pm. The house and gardens are open daily except Fridays, from April until October 31.
