THE Evening Press publicised Newgate Market's week in Parliament Street with a picture of a group of traders posing behind some very nice- looking fresh produce (April 27).
Perhaps it would have been more appropriate to picture them behind a pile of cheap tat, dodgy CDs and mobile phone covers!
That's why the market (and markets in most towns as well) is not doing as well as it might. There is too little good produce and too much rubbish.
My hat comes off to those traders who continue to struggle against the tide of polyester and plastic to bring us our lovely fruit and veg every day.
