Wing ace Alex Godfrey could be fit in time for tomorrow's crunch match against Sheffield Eagles at Huntington Stadium.
York City Knights are expected to be virtually unchanged for the National League Two match with a late fitness test due to decide the fate of Godfrey, who has been sidelined with a hamstring injury incurred against Chorley Lynx in the opening league fixture of the season.
The Knights were 32-24 winners last time the two sides met at Sheffield on February 29 in an Arriva Trains Cup group game after a hard-fought slog and are expecting more of the same from a notoriously strong team.
The game will have an added element of spice too for stand-off Scott Rhodes when he comes up against his former team.
But he says it will just be business as usual as the team gears up for the first of two tough games in the coming weeks.
He said: "It's always nice to play against your old team.
"It was a pretty disappointing display against Hunslet in the league the other week and we have got two hard games coming up in the next week against Sheffield and then Barrow away.
"We played against the Eagles in one of the Arriva Cup games and they were tough to beat. We really under-performed that day so we will be looking to make up for that."
Rhodes, who admitted himself that the drop goal he was awarded last week was in fact wide despite the decision of the referee, added: "Every game as a player you try to do your best and I think we've been playing pretty well this season.
"The boys go out and try to win every game but this really is a must-win game against Sheffield because they will be one of the toughest teams in the league this year.
"But if we keep playing well and keep going at it, I am sure we can win this weekend."
Rhodes is fairly pleased with how things have gone so far for himself on the field - and has committed himself to further improvements to help to carry the Knights forward.
He said: "With me, it's more about consistency than anything else. I've been working really hard to get that level of consistency week in, week out, and it's finally starting to come."
Facing the Knights could be ex-York player Rich Goddard. He may move to centre to make way for Welsh international Aled James who linked up with the Eagles after signing a month ago.
