JOHN Quantock is the new York Unique-Phoenix League division one individual champion after a 3-0 victory over Hospital Social Club team-mate John Smith.
Quantock took the first leg in 18 darts then added the second with a 21-darter. Smith hit a maximum in the third leg but left his fight-back too late, as Quantock closed out on 116 to take the title.
The division two individual final was an all-Blacksmith's Arms affair in which Tom Hair took the honours with a 3-1 win over Tony Brown after both players missed good chances.
The Hospital Social Club 'A' team of Quantock and Smith, plus Daz Bailey, also featured in the triples final. Up against the Cygnet 'B' trio of Paul Cooper, Ian Hartley, and Ally Wray the club side took the title 2-0 in which Quantock included a 107 check-out.
The Sun Inn (Acomb) pairing of Dave Gibbons and Kev Walton secured the pairs trophy with a 2-0 win over Dave Binks-Nick Harteveld (HSC 'A').
To add to their league championship, Sun Inn defeated Cygnet 'A' in the PDL Trophy with a 4-0 triumph. The pairing of Chris Thompson-Tony Cooper gamed in 26 darts, then Dave Gibbons (180) wrapped up the match with a 2-0 singles win against Pete Leake.
The winners of the divisional three fastest finishes were (division one) Chris Thompson with 13, 14, 14, = 41, and (division two) Paul Cooper with 12, 14, 16 = 42.
Sun Inn (Chris Thompson, Tony Cooper and Kev Walton) took the fastest team game trophy with 33 darts, while in the fastest pairs game, Thompson and Cooper shared the title with Alice Hawthorn's Jon O'Mara-Glenn Brown pairing. Both teams recorded 20-darters.
Thompson also took the highest check-out with 147, and to cap a superb season in which he had a 100 per cent singles record, Thompson deservedly captured the 'player of the season' award.
Mitre fall on Cue
JOHN Pickering shot a super 17 darts in York John Smith's Men's League division one, but he could not stop his Mitre team losing after Gary Scott-Dave Endeacott sealed the points for Cue Ball.
Ray McInally (20), Andy Littlewood (180) and Mark Gale-Daz Hawcroft pushed Poacher to a 6-3 victory at Sun 'A', who produced stiff resistance through Tony Cooper (180 for 20) and Chris Thompson (180)-Cooper (23).
A match-winning 180 from Keith Turner led Shepherd 'A' to a 7-2 result at Dringhouses.
Neil Caywood (20) and match-winners John Mooring-Dave Mason (26) nudged Cygnet 'A' to a 6-3 win over Golden Slipper, who had Kev Upton (20) and last pair Steve Reynolds-Pete Turnbull almost snatching the aggregate.
Paul Keers (18) and John Waller (180) helped Crescent to a 6-3 win over Swan, while Barry Noble (18) and Gary Nicholson (20) helped division two front-runners Clifton 'B' to a 7-2 result at Slip.
Match-winner James Fletcher was the pick as Britannia posted a 7-2 win over Cygnet 'B'.
Also in form was Russ Greaves, who hit finishes of 108 and a bull to guide Osbaldwick to a 5-4 win although a wide-margin win from Glenn Waterworth ensured the aggregate went to Blacksmith's.
Jim Pavis-Rich Hardy took the decider in favour of Institute at Flag 'A'.
In division three, Ronnie Magin (21) and Adrian Shaw-Mike Renshaw helped St Clements to a 6-3 win at Groves.

Chas Ramsden stood out as Shepherd 'B' ran up a 6-3 victory over Flag 'B', while Dave MacDonald-Wayne Markwick took the points for Green Tree with a 6-3 win at Fox Inn.
