LUCKY shorts were part of the plan as former North Yorkshire ace striker Tim Adams won a football competition at Elland Road.
The 39-year-old from Stillington came out on top in a keep-up contest on the pitch at half-time during Leeds United's home defeat to Portsmouth.
Wearing a pair of worn shorts he had on when he won the York qualifying heat to take part in the final, Adams achieved 155 keep-ups in a minute, beating the earlier efforts by his two rivals of 110 and 75.
"I wore them deliberately as they seems to have been lucky for me. I also won a couple of table tennis tournaments wearing the same shorts." He said.
Adams, who in his younger days played for Slingsby (Beckett League), Amotherby (York and District League) and Rowntree (Yorkshire League), won two Leeds United season tickets. The competition was run by club sponsors Whyte & Mackay.
