Yorkshire were at Trent Bridge today for their first Championship encounter with Nottinghamshire since 1999 making it the longest gap between matches for all county opponents except Middlesex who Yorkshire last played six years' ago.
Since the Championship was split into two divisions in 2000, Notts have spent all but last season in the Second Division whereas Yorkshire were in the top flight until last summer.
Both teams have begun the new campaign with an emphatic victory and Yorkshire are looking for a similar result to their 1999 visit to Trent Bridge when they won by three wickets in a tense and controversial match.
A total of 17 wickets crashed on the first day, prompting a pitch panel visit from Lord's and Nottinghamshire were given a suspended ten-point penalty for preparing a strip judged too damp when play began.
It turned out to be the seventh consecutive Championship match at Trent Bridge to be concluded in three days or less, Chris Silverwood blasting Yorkshire to their 144 target after they had been 43-6 at one stage.
Yorkshire have not lost to Notts since 1995 when they went down by eight wickets at Trent Bridge. They were always struggling after Tim Robinson had plundered 124 out of the home side's first innings score of 403.
Yorkshire captain, Craig White, who completed 10,000 first-class career runs during last week's Championship match against Essex, needs only seven runs in the current game to reach 8,000 first-class runs for his county.
