THE recently opened Langwith Lakes at Heslington have already hit top form and last weekend produced two more great matches.

The Saturday match on Kevin's Lake saw young Oliver Hewitt continue his good run on the local commercial circuit with 65lbs 5ozs of carp on pole and corn.

Alternating between 14 metres over to the island and closer in at four metres he netted fish up to 4lbs.

Ben Logan took second place with his pellet-based net of carp to three pounds which was also taken on the pole.

Best of the rest were: Dale Shepherd 44lbs, Phil Hirst 40lbs 40ozs and James Swallow 38lbs.

The following day Ken Watson won with a 60lb net of carp to 4lbs taken fishing corn and casper fished tight to the island.

Wayne Guy was second with his 49lb 10oz haul taken on pole and pellet.

Tollerton Ponds were also in kind mood for Sunday's Mitre Angling event, which went to Peter Flower with 45lbs 12ozs. Drawn on peg 16 he fished floating bread for carp up to 6lb.

Dave Ward was runner-up from peg eigh, where he had 36lbs 10ozs of carp on pole and pellet.

Barry Klar took third place with a mixed net of carp and tench on pole and pellet from peg one.

Other leading weights were taken by Paul Chalk with 28lbs 10ozs and Chris Jewitt with 20lbs 2ozs.

The dynamic duo of Addinall and Haw cleaned up again at Carpvale on Sunday when they filled the top two places in the Bob.Co Sponsored Spring Series.

With the carp feeding on the surface Mick Addinall was always the man to beat and so it proved as the Spectrum Autos star bagged nine fish from peg 52 using floating pellets for 54lbs 2ozs.

Sharing partner John Haw did his bit to add to the coffers with his 50lbs 6ozs from peg 13 on Cyprio Lake. Fishing the feeder with corn he netted 13 carp.

Other leading weights were: John Fletcher 45lbs 12ozs, David Hand 35lbs 8ozs, Andy Gallant 24lbs 10ozs and John Brain 23lbs 9ozs.
