Last night we were 15 years old. For one night only, it was the mid-1980s and we were there to scream at our first crushes. Duran Duran were back.
Coming on stage to a screaming ovation, they stood and lapped it up. Who can blame them?
Disappointingly, they then launched into a virtually unknown song, Sunrise.
It seemed like an odd choice and for a moment we wondered what else was going to follow.
But we needn't have worried. Hungry Like The Wolf, Is There Something I Should Know, Union Of The Snake and Come Undone were belted out in turn. While Simon Le Bon jumped and strutted around the stage quite obviously enjoying himself, it took until Planet Earth for the crowd of thirty-somethings to really come alive and act as they would have done in their teenage days.
As the lyrics go "look now look all around, there's no sign of life"... well, that certainly wasn't the case. The place went WILD. And boy, was it good.
After this, however, we did feel it went a bit flat. A couple of slow old album tracks and new songs really slowed it down again - perhaps a slight indulgence on their part.
Maybe this was a good thing though, as it gave us a chance to get our breath, and voices back, ready to pick it up again.
Twenty years on, lighters were replaced by swaying mobile phones held aloft (were mobiles even invented back then?!) for Save A Prayer.
Careless Memories, The Reflex and Wild Boys followed and then they were gone. I have to confess we did stamp our feet and scream for more, and we got it.
Treated to an encore of White Lines (fantastic - one of the best all night) Girls On Film and Rio, we didn't want it to end.
But our bodies were saying "no more". Talk about a workout! It's certainly more fun than a session in the gym.
Even though I'm sure I'm biased, it was a fantastic night.
Two hours of screaming and shouting to an amazing show - this was Duran Duran at their best.
Bass guitarist John Taylor still has the power to make me scream, and as one of those thirty-somethings I'm sure I should know better!
It's just a good job we were quite a few miles from home and no one knew me.
