CHAMPIONS Bay Horse got their York Phoenix Open League division one campaign off to a fine start with a 7-2 win over Cygnet.

A fine 18 darts from Rich Corner, 20 darts from Dave O'Hara and Ally Wray's 21 gave Bay the win within the singles, while John Miller was Cygnet's only singles success.

Good darts from Paul Mizon was well backed by Dave Smith to give Pack the aggregate point against newly-promoted Crescent.

Tony Raymond was Woodman's only singles winner in their 7-2 defeat at Volunteer.

Howden's Chris Wilson (180 for 16 darts) and Mike Harris with 100 finish for 18 secured the aggregate, but didn't stop Phoenix from sealing the last game through John Smith-Nick Harteveld.

In division two, Woolpack made a winning start, beating Victoria Vaults 7-2, while Huntington 'A' took the match within the singles against Yearsley, whose Dave Johnson closed on bull.

Pip Hair inspired Huntington 'B' to a 6-3 win at Leeman with a superb 180 for 20 darts. He was well supported by Mark White with a 94 finish, while Leeman's best effort came from Roger Pirrie.

Bob Rochester got Reindeer off to a flying start in division three with a fine 21 darts, but Three Cranes hit back to take the last game through Tony Sissons-Simon Norrie.

Newcomers Edinburgh Arms recorded a comfortable win over Clarence, while Indoor Bowls had no answer to Mount, who put in a clean sweep.

Carol Brayshaw played a lone hand in the pairs to secure a 5-4 victory for Dringhouses in York John Smith's Ladies League division one after Tracey Bruce-Wendy Shortle had pulled Independent level.

A 23 from Anita Adams couldn't prevent Slipper losing at Phoenix whose Carol Perrett starred with 24 darts. Karen Richardson 3 x 100 spurred Cygnet 'C' to a 7-2 win against Slip. Twenty-two darts from Angie Hields was Cueball's best display against Holgate.

Jan Wilberham checked 71 as Clifton 'A' cleared up the pairs to lower Flag. Toni Smallwood returned 140, 100 for 25, and mother Jean Smallwood partnered Pat Norman to seal a 5-4 win against Cygnet 'A'.

In division two, Clifton 'B' were prevented from a whitewash win by Tap's Anne Keswick, while Britannia were also prevented from a perfect score by Shepherd 'A's Maggie Beddingham.

Shepherd 'B' could not match Cygnet 'B's finishing prowess and Sun shone with a 6-3 eclipsing of Jubilee, whose Angie Lancaster hit the tons.

Barbara Ward-Mavis Rawcliffe were the match-winners for Tang Hall WMC after Gill Cooper-Ann Barker had put them on level terms against Severus.

Leeman 'C' were prevented from a perfect scoreline by their 'A' team's Margaret Yeomans-Chris Waddington pairing in division three. Mo Hearfield-Sam Gabbitiss were Acomb's matchwinners at home to Cueball 'A'.

Margaret Davis-Jenny Barron won the decider for Burton WMC against visitors Volunteer 'B'. Ronnie Maher was Volunteer 'A's star as they beat Turf 6-3. Mount won by the same score against Leeman 'D'.
