Haxby clinched second spot in division one of Leeper Hare York and District League with a mid-week win over Norwich Union and a 4-2 win at Civil Service.
Dave Cruddas opened their account and Mark Scoreby netted twice, with Ben Drummond rounding of a man of the match performance with a goal. Joe Michelli and Alex Ingram replied for Civil Service.
At the foot of the table Norwich Union and Riccall were fighting to avoid the drop after both suffering midweek defeats.
On paper Norwich Union had the easier task as they travelled to Stamford Bridge, while Riccall received Hamilton Panthers, who still entertained an outside chance of promotion.
Goals from Nick Henshaw, Matt Devereaux and Mathew Hibbins gave Norwich Union a 3-0 win as Riccall suffered a second half collapse to lose 5-1 after a goalless first period.
Five minutes after the restart James Toase broke the deadlock with a goal for Panthers. Five minutes later Simon Marshall made it 2-0. Paul Barron and Shaun Turner added two more before Marshall rounded things off with his second of the game. Darren Davis scored for Riccall but it was little consolation as they now join Civil service in division two.
After their promotion hopes were dashed in a mid week defeat at Hamilton Panthers, St John's College finished their season with a home defeat by New Earswick.
Dave Haslam, Charlie Holmes, Like Burton and Tom Robinson did the damage with Mick Horsfield scoring for the students.
