CIVIL Service made a great start to the division four season in York and District Senior League

But on Saturday they went to the east coast and trounced newcomers Hornsea II, who were pre-season favourites to win the division.
Darren Hanley hit a fine 127 for Service and with Bob Graves making 54 and Simon Brown an unbeaten 35, Service amassed 265-4. Tom Holvey took 6 for 18, and veteran Mick Bradley 3 for 54 as Hornsea were out for 108.
A ten man Pocklington side were out for 108 at Huby as Chris Cundall took 3-21 and Barry Whitwell 3 for 7.
Selby got their better of a thrilling draw against Sheriff Hutton Bridge in a match played at Cawood because Selby's ground was not available.
Matthew Hoyle scored 61 of Selby's 172-3. Dave Ellis and Steve Clipston then put on 84 for Bridge's opening wicket. Clipston went on to make 61 but four run outs left Bridge short at 171-8.
Easingwold's Darren Powell had career best figures of 7 for 17 as home team Sheriff Hutton were skittled for 31 replying to Easingwold's 73.
