SCHOOLBOY football in York is really thriving and I have had the pleasure of taking 12 Under-11 players to the North Tyneside festival where they represented the city of York with honour and pride.
Not only did they stir the attentions of their respective opponents coaches with football of the highest order but the attitude and sportsmanship shown by the York boys was exemplary.
As a teacher and coach involved with children on a full time basis it gives me, and no doubt their parents, great pleasure to witness their achievements.
The people of York should rest easy safe in the knowledge that the U11 footballers are upholding the good name of school sport where ever they travel.
