IT was sweetness and flight for Dean Bramley, who aced himself into the history books of York's British Sugar Golfing Society.
Bramley achieved his first hole in one - and the first in the Sugar society's eight-year history - with a one-shot feat at the par-three, 123-yards sixth hole at Leeds Golf Club. Bramley's weapon of choice for his ace was a sand-iron.
Another hole in one star was Richard Burton, a 21-handicapper at Fulford. He holed in one at the 146-yard tenth with a seven wood.
Ken finds he's in seventh heaven
Ken Potter belied his 28 handicap when he scored a hole-in-one on the seventh hole at Forest Park Golf Club, in Stockton-on-the-Forest.
His seven iron to the 127-yard par three took one bounce and popped straight into the hole during a round a week ago.
Ken, of Whitby Avenue, York, said: "I did have to stump up at the bar but there was only eight in there, so I got off quite lightly!"
Winners of mixed scramble
The Kilnwick Percy spring ladies and seniors mixed Texas scramble was won by lady vice-captain Joy Biggin in tandem with Romualda Plewes, Richard Pink and George Lumsden. Their net 59 score was two better than nearest challengers Imelda Watson, Linda Pink, David Kilford and Malcolm Plewes.
Malton ladies into fourth round
Malton and Norton Ladies breezed through the third round of the Mail on Sunday competition with a 4-0 win over Scarthingwell at Malton. Having been down in her match Judy Butler battled hard to win at last. Janet Rushworth, Pat Hague and Emma Duggleby all followed with their points for a sound victory.
Best gross
Former York champion Jamie Miller had the best gross score of two-under-par 70 - but as he plays off plus two he finished joint 12th in Fulford GC's April medal won by J P Wake with a 66.
Kellett triumphs
Forest Park Captain's Charity Shield competition was won by Dave Kellett. This year the Captain's charity is Yorkshire Cancer Research in conjunction with York University.
Fairclough wins
Marie Fairclough won York and District Past Lady Captain's Association annual tournament at Fulford with 33 stableford points, one clear of Pat Hague.
