Selby Warriors Under-11s ended their debut season with a much-improved performance against Middleton, despite going down 38-26.
The Leeds side led 16-12 at half time, Skilbeck scoring a hat-trick of tries for Selby, who fielded a completely changed team for the second half.
The move backfired as Middleton took early advantage of the out-of-position Warriors to grab a couple of quick tries.
Scrum half Josh Parkin finished off an impressive move with a 30metre solo effort and a late substitution re-introduced Luke Liddle, who claimed an individual try. Adam Chappell, Sam Ward and Josh Cruise added the goals.
New Earswick All Blacks Under 9s played at home last weekend against Heworth, who got off to a good start.
But New Earswick, fielding three new players, warmed to their task with two-try Sam Gell named All Blacks' man of the match scoring. Jordan Bracewell scored Earswick's other try, Jack Lawrance was their most improved player and Scottie Fernandez best tackler.
York Acorn U8s pipped Leeds side Beeston by eight tries to seven with George Andrews scoring a hat-trick. Other touchdowns came from top tackler Harry Bromwich (2), Ben Church, James Hardwick and Callum Langan. Chantel Franks did well on her debut.
