YORK Acorn ended their Arriva Trains Conference division two campaign with a resounding 58-14 defeat at Waterhead.
The 11-try thrashing saw the Oldham side leapfrog the Blue and Golds in the table, with Dave Kay's men ending the season fourth from bottom.
Waterhead's Michael Foggerty led the way for the home side with a hat-trick of tries, with Terry Fitzgerald adding two more plus six goals.
Other home try-scorers were Paul Joyce, Scott Beswick, Daniel Martin, Liam Coates, James Cambell, who also added a goal, and Anthony Pemberton.
Andrew Webb crossed for Acorn in the first half but the game was already lost by then, with Waterhead enjoying a 34-4 half-time lead.
Acorn, for whom Mick Hagan worked hard, rallied briefly in the second period with Sean Gilmore and Paul Payne crossing for tries, Kev Brundrett adding a goal, but the respite didn't last long and the Lancastrians went on to record a big win.
Selby Warriors were handed a 30-0 result as relegated Bailiff Bridge failed to raise a side for their last Pennine League divsion five game of the season. Selby were already sure of fourth place.
