IN response your report 'New bridge hope for York cyclists', (April 13), I should like to know from Coun Ann Reid just what would be the cost of such a bridge across the River Ouse linking Poppleton and Skelton.
Also, how many people does she imagine want to go from Poppleton to Skelton and vice versa to justify such a cost?
On top of that, why spend money providing a cycle lane, which would narrow the carriageway from Tower Street to Fishergate, when there is a perfectly good cycle track from Ouse Bridge, Skeldergate Bridge, Blue Bridge, Fishergate, to Fulford St Oswalds Road, running along the New Walk by the river?
Are these just more ways to waste council tax money on crackpot schemes?
