LOOK out for Loki. This week they won Round One Heat Eleven of the 2004 Fibbers/Evening Press Battle of the Bands, picking up the Secret panel's vote as they defeated second-placed 3 Days Forward, Aspect Of One and The Rifles.

The 12th and last heat of Round One takes place next week when The Getaway Plan, Tip The Balance, She's Not Dead and Few Dollars More clash on Tuesday evening.

If next week's runner-up wins 28.8 per cent or more of the audience vote, that band will go through. Otherwise, 3 Days Forward will be the last qualifying runner-up to join The Spiral, Burn, Solstice, Dust Bowl Central and Lights Out in Round Two. Admission is £3, and the start time is 7.30pm.

In other gigs at Fibbers in the week ahead, York ten-piece electro-rage cartel Endgunn will be filmed tomorrow night for the band's live DVD, backed up by DJ Rick Witter (ex of Shed Seven) and the V3ctor DJs. On Sunday, four brothers from the legendary musical family McManus - elder brother Declan is better known as Elvis Costello - will be on stage together, performing under the name of Riverway.

On Wednesday, Levi's Ones To Watch presents Million Dead, X Is Loaded and Your Codename Is: Milo in a preview of the future of rock. Ticket purchase in advance is recommended.
