YORK police deserve our thanks for stemming the tide of house break-ins.
The hard work of North Yorkshire's only burglary squad is clearly paying off. It means fewer householders have had to experience the shock and anxiety of having their homes invaded and their possessions stolen.
However, Det Sgt Steve Taylor fears burglaries will rise again as the days grow longer and warmer.
Beating the burglars is not rocket science.
If we all remember to close and lock windows and doors when we are outside, then we can frustrate the criminals.
