UNIVERSITY Staff Ladies scored a comfortable 9-0 home win over St John's in division two of the York Badminton League.

Sally Locker and Lynn Terry were the pick of the staff pairings taking three straight wins for a return of 90-18.

Riverside played host to Rowntrees in men's one and eventually won a close match 6-3. Craig Dobson and Geoff Oxley headed the home returns with three wins for 116-68, including a 15-13 12-15 15-9 over Mark Barker and Phil Grant, who took two confectionery wins.

St John's went down 3-6 at home to Tadcaster in men's two. George Noble and Liam Whittington took three student wins, including a 15-6 6-15 15-13 over Phil Zealand and Bill Marley.

Selby Jubilee 'A' travelled to Knavesmire and were good value for an 8-1 win. Neil Richardson and James Barrett top-scored for Jubilee with three straight wins for 90-37. Mike Lewis and Brian Bell took the home consolation with a 12-15 15-10 15-13 over Martin Overton and Pete Murphy.

RI Tuesday/Thursday 'C' turned the club rankings upside down with a 7-2 win over their 'B' team club-mates in men's three. Aiden Foster and Phil Hagues topped the 'C' team averages with three straight wins for 90-48.

Clifton 'B' scored an easy 9-0 home win over Selby Jubilee 'B'. Phil Sinton and Colin Ness were in sparkling form for the St Peter's School-based club with three straight wins.

Sheriff Hutton continued their mini revival in mixed two with a 5-4 away win over RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A'. Chris Schofield and Jo Wade took the important Sheriff maximum for a return of 92-52, including a 10 and 12 over Carol Newnham and Chris Hunt who took two Institute wins.

Pocklington 'A' went down 2-7 at home to Knavesmire. Chris Kunkel and Sally Howat took both Pocklington wins, but lost out 4 and 7 to Andy Limbert and Ann Hopwood, who took the only maximum of the match.

Easingwold, pushing for promotion in mixed three, won 6-3 at Selby Jubilee 'A'. Neil Richardson and Claire Frost took all three Jubilee wins for a total of 90-42.

Selby Jubilee beat Fulfordgate 'B' 8-1 in a mixed five fixture played at Brayton High School. Ian McGregory and Val Newman topped the home averages with a return of 104-75, while Peter and Anita Wilkinson took the visitors' consolation with a 15-11 6-15 15-11 over Caroline Benson and Martin Overton.

Terrys scored their first win of the season with a hard fought 6-3 success over Market Weighton 'B' in mixed six. Yvonne Forman and Richard Rodgers put in a good display for the confectioners with three straight wins for a total of 90-49.

Drax 'D' emphasised their top spot with a 9-0 home win over Pocklington 'C'. Sue Hardy and Adam Prescott continued their good understanding with three straight wins for a total of 90-30. They were backed by club-mates, Andrew Dunning and Steph Bevan, who also took three wins for 90-31.
