DOES anyone ever consider the residents who have speed tables and road humps placed outside their homes?
We have a serious traffic problem in Bishopthorpe. Heavy goods vehicles come through the village from dawn, some are still coming through late at night.
Judging by the names on them, they come from all over Europe. We have car transporters, skips, builders' lorries, besides all the race traffic, causing vibration and pollution as they pass over the speed tables.
The signs and roadmarkings are a blight on our historic suburbs and villages.
Whoever thought up this daft idea should try having humps outside their homes. They would soon realise that speed cameras were a quieter option.
Let us hope that when the new college and housing development is planned, a road could be built so that Bishopthorpe is by-passed. At present it is used as a cut-through to York and elsewhere.
