I'M glad to hear that Land Securities is still pursuing plans to develop the Coppergate area (April 8).
York is a magnificent city which deserves to build on its historical importance, instead of trading on its past.
The people who protest against any proposed developments would probably have protested against the building of the Minster.
I would love to see an ultra modern building juxtaposed with the ancient Clifford's Tower, such as a mirrored glass-fronted building, or perhaps something along the lines of Selfridges in Birmingham, and who cares what Dave Dee, or even Dozy, Beaky, Mick or Titch think.
Chris Hanson,
Willow Glade,
York.
