THIRTEEN may an unlucky number for some, but it could soon become a curse for golfers who fall foul of the 13th hole at Forest Park GC, writes Steve Carroll.
Every wayward shot which finds the bunker in front of the green at the short par four will cost its architect a 50p fine.
It's all part of a charity drive by the club, based at Stockton-on-the-Forest, to raise cash for a good cause, with golfers depositing their penalties in a bottle at the clubhouse bar.
The rule, for which a sign warns golfers as they approach the sand trap, applies to club members and visitors alike.
And, judging by the growing number of coins in the Captains' Charity Bunker bottle, the sand-trap has already claimed a few victims in the first fortnight of the new season.
