THE battle of the top teams in Men's Two of the York Badminton League saw RI Tuesday/Thursday 'A' beat second-placed Tadcaster by a 7-2 margin.
C Hunt and M Finer topscored for the Institute with three wins for a return of 102-38.
Clifton 'B' entertained RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B' and won this Men's Three fixture very comfortably.
The 9-0 scoreline saw only one rubber go a deciding end in which Stuart Robertson and Mark Screeton eventually beat Ian Sanderson and Graham Harrison 15-6 10-15 15-6.
Mixed Division One saw University Students 'A' play hosts to Drax 'A' and score a 6-3 win.
Manik Chapravati and Katie Marchbank were in tremendous form for the Students, recording three straight wins for a total of 90-22.
One day earlier Students 'A' travelled to Drax 'B' and scored another 6-3 win.
Chapravati and Marchbank topped the averages once again with a return of 103-50. However they were given a tough match by Alison Dinsdale and Dave Hearn before winning 13-15 15-4 15-11.
University Students 'B' entertained Rowntree 'A' in Mixed One and emulated their 'A' team with a 6-3 win.
Helen Robinson and Chris Woodroffe took the Student honours with a return of 102-61 from three wins.
Geoff Whittaker and Brenda Drummond, the pick of the Confectionery pairs, were rewarded for their efforts with a 12-15 15-13 15-8 over Jeff Burch and Kate Haydock.
Riverside 'A' scored an excellent 5-4 away win over Clifton 'B' in Mixed 2.
Architects of the Riverside success were Craig Dobson and Tricia Fowler who took all three for 100-83, including the matchwinning rubber where they beat Simon Christian and Ronnie Davison 15-10 8-15 15-7.
Shepherds beat Knavesmire 7-1 in a time-affected Mixed Division Two match.
Lisa Metcalfe and Sean Ogley sparkled once again for Shepherds and took all three rubbers for a total of 92-62, Ann Hopwood and Andy Limbert took the consolation with a 10 and 13 win over Paul Nichol and Claire Forth.
Rowntree 'B' scored two 5-4 wins in Mixed Three recently; an excellent away result over league leaders Easingwold was followed by a home win over Drax 'C'.
Ian Turner and Shelley Tatterton took five wins from six rubbers for the Confectionery side, their only loss was a 12-15 5-15 by Alison Monk and Mike Hourston who took all three Easingwold wins.
Drax 'C' bounced back in their next match to record a 7-2 home win over RI Tuesday/Thursday 'B'.
John Formby and Angie Spivey topscored for the home side with three wins for 90-51, including a 6 and 10 over Pat Ambler and Matt Hitchens who took two Institute wins.
Pocklington 'B' entertained Fulfordgate 'A' in Mixed Five and lost a competitive match 4-5.
Matt Hobman and Hazel Winfield did the damage for the visitors with three wins for 112-55, including an 11-15 15-3 15-3 over the top home pairing Matt Burrows and Cate Hyde.
Riverside 'B' emphasised their leadership of Mixed Five with an 8-1 home win over Middlethorpe.
Ian McKinlay and Sue Sharp put in the best Riverside display with three straight wins for 90-23, Ian Thompson and Ann Oxley took the visitor's consolation with an 11 and 11 over Simon Taylor and Julia McKinlay.
Martin Buckle and Sarah Boulton took three wins as Pocklington 'C' beat Scarthingwell in Mixed Division Six.
Buckle and Boulton recorded 102-39 in a good display together, whilst Janet Treble and Richard Banks took the home consolation with a 10 and 8 over George Tankard and Lucy Astle.
