TRIES from Jo Parkes, Su Walker and Julie Pease could not prevent York RI Ladies RUFC from losing 39-17 at Doncaster.
RI went in at half-time level when Parkes scored from a pitch-length run which Pease converted.
The visitors then went ahead after the break when a good passing movement from a scrum near the Doncaster line saw fly-half Walker go over for a try.
But the home side responded almost immediately to score once in the corner and again with a strong run from the hooker.
The York team battled back and a clever kick and chase from Pease saw her cross the line to level the scores once more.
But RI then tired in the closing stages and could not prevent Doncaster capitalising on their extra player to score a further four tries, all from their captain and fly-half Gemma Radford with one converted.
