AFTER reading the article on improving the roads in York, written by former city councillor Liz Edge, I ask if she would consider standing at the next local elections as an independent "common sense" candidate.
Her appraisal of the traffic situation in York showed a much greater understanding of present problems than the highly paid anti-car lunatics employed by the city council.
Yes, Mrs Edge, lets get rid of the money wasting, largely pointless humps, chicanes and other nonsense inflicted on York's motorists - "dump the humps" and spend money on real policemen instead of "sleeping policemen", we may all benefit then.
I am so glad that a former councillor has highlighted the pollution problems created by the city council's public transport policies, where huge amounts of council taxpayer's money goes to subsidise a private bus company to poison us with a fleet of diesel buses while creating congestion and running a 'demolition derby' through the city's streets.
How right she is to say that York's traffic problems are self-inflicted - remember the four-day bus strike last year with traffic flowing better than for many years? Surely, this indicated that somebody is wrong.
