AS anyone who regularly has to cross the Haleys Terrace-Huntington Road junction after a shower of rain will know, high wellington boots or waders are a necessity.
This is brought about by continually blocked road drains in Haleys Terrace which results in deep flood water across the full width of busy this junction.
At school-leaving times, when the junction is in flood, children either wade through deep water or cross away from the protection of the traffic light pedestrian crossing, placing themselves at considerable risk.
Repeated calls to York highways department brings little relief. The cause of these blocked drains - leaves and branches which fell last October - still blocks the gutters of Haleys Terrace because cleaning vehicles cannot get to the gutters because of parked cars.
Surely, one day of limited parking could be implemented to allow collected debris to be removed and a more frequent drain-cleaning programme implemented?
