A YORK restaurant has tasted success after just one year in business, with a listing in a prestigious guide.
The Tasting Room, in Swinegate Court East, York, is one of only five restaurants in the city to be listed in the 2004 Michelin Guide.
The achievement is even more special to Sally Robinson, Nigel Stacey and Mike Staff, the trio behind the eatery, as the business only opened its doors to the public last year. The listing describes the restaurant's "chatty service" and "simple modern cooking".
The Tasting Room gets all its ingredients from other businesses in the local area.
Its fish is from Cross of York, its cheese comes from Henshelwoods, and its bread is baked every morning at La Bottega delle Langhe, in High Petergate.
"Good food is only possible with fresh ingredients of a high quality and we have proved that this does not have to be expensive or exclusive," said Sally.
"We have had many great reviews over the year and have been delighted with the positive response the business has received from both customers and food writers. The Michelin Guide listing truly is the icing on the cake for us."
