PICKERING Town gave their Northern Counties East League premier division title ambitions a big boost last night thanks to an Alex Willgrass double blast.
He netted on six and 45 minutes to earn the Pikes a 2-1 home win against table-topping Ossett Albion.
Steve Brown's men, who have lost only one league match at the Recreation Ground this season, are now just seven points behind Ossett with four games in hand.
Ossett's consolation goal was scored by Dave Watts on 48 minutes.
Selby Town's slide down the NCEL premier division table continues after they were unable to handle a man called Caine last night.
Sheffield's Caine Cheetham scored twice as the home side raced into a 3-0 half-time lead, with Duncan Bray also on target. The second half was goalless and Selby's defeat puts them down to sixth position.
