CLAIR Cooper closed on 120 shanghai on 20s for Phoenix in a York John Smith's Ladies League division one defeat of Cueball 'C'.
Angie Hields scored 125 and two 100s in her singles and 121, 100 for 21 with Carole Pipes in the pairs, for Cueball 'B' as Carol Brayshaw prevented Dringhouses being clean bowled.
Karen Richardson (23) and Roz Kerr (25), then Richardson partnered Michelle Britton, to seal a 5-4 victory for Cygnet 'C' against Holgate. Claire Lickley partnered Karen Hodgeson to win the decider for Clifton despite two 100s from Independent's Sandra Bruce.
Leeman 'B' secured the division two title by beating Jubilee 8-1, Sylvia Keenan spoiling the party.
Anita Adams-Ann Parkin won the decider for Slipper against Cygnet, as did Barbara Ward-Mavis Rawcliffe in Tang Hall WMC's win against Clifton. Division three champions Blacksmiths lost out to second-placed Burnholme. Kim Simpson checked a two-dart 92 (treble 20, double 16) as Ebor raced into a 4-0 advantage at Shepherd 'B', whose Pauline Dale (140, 100) started a mini-revival before Marie Simpson-Sue Holmes sealed a win for the visitors.
Maggie Beddingham (two 100s, 108) starred for Shepherd 'A' as Angie Read-Anne Allison won the decider at Leeman. Vaults rallied in the pairs at Severus with Anne Keswick-Helen Stead victorious in the decider.
Woolpack hang on to top spot in division four despite going down 3-6 against Turf, Volunteer 'B' snatched second place as they recovered to clean up in the pairs at Woodman for a 5-4 win. Cueball 'A' also recovered from a 2-4 deficit at Puss to pot all the pairs for a 5-4 victory.
The first semi-final of the Crescent WMC Centenary competition saw Sun Inn storm into the final with a 6-1 victory over Hospital Social Club.
Dave Gibbons got Sun off to a flying start with 15 and 17 games against John Quantock (15). Chris Thompson showed his class to make it 2-0 with a 16-darter, then hit a maximum and a 121-bull finish for a terrific 12-darter. Tony Cooper (20) defeated Phil Good (180), but the shock of the evening came as Tom Hair beat Yorkshire captain Martin Atkins with a brace of 18-darters to show class above his age and experience.
A 16-darter from Ray McInally sealed the win before Mick Willsden included back-to-back 180s for a superb 13 darts. In the final match, Kev Walton defeated Pip Hair to wrap up a fine team performance.
The second semi-final will take place between Bay Horse and Greyhound on Wednesday, April 7 at Crescent WMC.
The York Phoenix Open League moved into the semi-final stages of the competitions. The division three individual semi-final pitched Mark Thornton (Locomotive) against Crown's Danny White. Thornton opened with four successive tons to take the first leg. White levelled before taking the decider to set up the final against Eric Sleightholme (Bishopthorpe SC) who defeated Yearsley's Steve Parker 2-0.
In the division two semis, last season's runner-up Mike Holdsworth defeated Crescent 'B's Arthur Scott and Tony Raymond beat Woodman team-mate Paul Armstrong.
Wendy Smith stood out for the Phoenix partnering husband John in their 2-0 defeat of Tony Raymond-Leanne Kelly (Woodman) in the mixed pairs, while Rich Corner-Michelle Britton won through in the all-Bay Horse clash against Dave O'Hara-Tracey Farmeary.
The pairs will be an all-Bay Horse affair after Kev O'Hara-Ally Wray defeated John's Quantock & Smith (Phoenix) and Rich Corner-Paul Cooper knocked out Volunteer's Paul Botterill-Mike Harris.
The division one individual semi-finals will feature Rich Corner (Bay Horse), John Quantock (Phoenix), Dean Saxton (Volunteer) and Mark Blundell (Greyhound).
