I THANK, and I'm grateful to, a motorist who helped my father on March 3 on the York bypass at the Askham Bryan turn-off.
My mother was taken ill in the car and my father tried to flag down a vehicle to seek help.
A young man in a sports-type car stopped and helped by calling an ambulance and staying with my father until the medical services arrived.
Unfortunately, my mother later died at York Hospital, despite the efforts of the medical staff.
This young man's act of kindness and help is something my father will never forget, nor will my family and we thank him very much for the care he showed.
Also, I thank the staff of the Accident and Emergency department of York Hospital for helping and caring for my mother and for the compassion and assistance they offered my family during this sad time. It is gratifying to know that such kind people are still out there and prepared to help others in a time of need.
Mrs L Peyton,
Denesway,
Garforth, Leeds.
