Red Rampage, who showed plenty of grit and determination to win at Carlisle earlier this month, can rely on those same qualities to follow-up over a gruelling three and a half miles at Sedgefield tomorrow.

Trained at Stillington by Harry Hogarth, the nine-year-old goes for the St James Secruity Handicap Chase and will have the services of his regular rider, Malton jockey David O'Meara.

Red Rampage has proved admirably consistent this season, stacking-up three consecutive runner-up efforts before his hard-earned Carlisle success, which was gained by three-parts of a length over Lord Capitaine.

That victory was over three and a quarter miles, but tomorrow's extra two furlongs will serve only to play to the strengths of Red Rampage, who is a proven out-and-out stayer.

The Saltwell Signs Amateur Riders' Novices' Hurdle division two looks a good opportunity for my Nap selection Valeureux to follow-up his recent Market Rasen success.

James Hetherton's six-year-old, who was not winning out of turn, produced a pleasing display that day and comes from a Norton stable going well at the moment.

Noel Wilson, also based at Norton, can win the Sharp Minds Betfair Handicap Chase over two miles and five furlongs with Native Eire.

A horse who became plagued by breaking blood vessels, Native Eire has been nursed back to health by Wilson and has won his last two starts, the latest one over this course and distance.

Tomorrow's Flat racing on turf is at Folkestone, where Richard Hughes looks set for a good day.

Hughes, who spent part of the winter riding in Japan, rode the last winner at Doncaster on Saturday, and could well take the first tomorrow on Veneer in the New Turf Season Maiden Stakes.

A speedily-bred colt, Veneer comes from the powerful Richard Hannon stable, which invariably has its two-year-olds well schooled for their debut.

Hughes can also click on Concert Hall in the Sellinge Maiden Fillies' Stakes. Amanda Perratt's three-year-old showed definite signs of promise last year, finishing in the frame on all her three starts.

Dash For Cover, a winner on his final start last season, and another trained by Hannon, can be yet another winner for Hughes, in the Wealden Advertiser Classified Stakes.
