SIX Knights in shining armour did their bit for charity this week as they gave up their spare time to collect for Macmillans Cancer Relief.

The sextet of coach Richard Agar and players Simon Friend, Chris Langley, Mick Ramsden, Alex Godfrey and Rob Kama went out on to the cold York city centre streets and raised more than £200 for the good cause.

They were among about 45 collectors on the day, including Knights chairman Roger Dixon, who is also chairman of the York branch of Macmillans Cancer Relief. The total raised was just over £1,750.

Dixon said: "We were short of collectors and they rescued us. Each collector normally does about one hour and are booked for a maximum of two, but they did nearly three hours a man.

"We're very grateful to them for it, as we are to all the collectors. They did a really good job and I hope they enjoyed it."
