IT Sports Wigginton looked to cap a season of misfortune with some silverware after overcoming local rivals York SRC in the quarter-finals of the Yorkshire Cup.
Next up for Wigginton are Harrogate, who have beat Wigginton 5-0 earlier in the season.
All Wigginton's hopes of clinching silverware now lie in the cup as they narrowly missed out in the national club championships, which they had pinned their hopes on clinching, suffering a close defeat to Pontefract in the quarter-finals, and struggling with form in the league.
Harrogate narrowly missed out on the Premier League title this season to a strong Pontefract side and will be looking to seek revenge as Pontefract play in the other semi-final against Queens.
Team captain Matthew Lowery said: "Harrogate have good strength in depth and will be looking to avenge their narrow loss in the title chase with a win in this.
"We still have a lot to prove. We put all our hopes on winning the national club championships but were beaten by a fantastic Pontefract side that will be hard to beat for anyone.
"The lads still feel we can come out of this season with a trophy.
"We've only been in the league three seasons and have won a trophy in our past two seasons defying the odds, so we know anything other than a trophy this season will be disappointing."
The win against York, which was played as both a league and cup match, was due to fixture congestion.
It was the third time the two clubs have met this season, Wigginton winning on all three occasions, but Wigginton team manager Ian Tooms said: "York have done really well this season to compete with limited resources.
"They have given us three good games now and I wish them luck in trying to stay up,. We'll see them again next season."
The tie started off in York's favour as Wigginton's Mitch Cook, suffering from an upset stomach, came unstuck against York's Anton Green 3-1.
Wigginton's number four Jamie Hopwood defeated Matt Inglis 3-1 in what was the best match of the night.
Lowery looked in good shape, his fitness and recovering taking its toll as he ground down Nick Robinson 3-0.
Duncan Walsh proved too fit for Nathan Hill to win 3-0 and put Wigginton 3-1 up overall.
Talented junior Lawrence De La Saux retired because of flu after a couple of games against Jon Rooney to leave Wigginton as 4-1 winners.
Wigginton's next match is against Queens, from Halifax, on Wednesday, March 31 at home.
The semi-final of the Yorkshire Cup against Harrogate has got to be played by the end of April.
