Paul Forsey explores the life of Jesus from birth to death and resurrection in 24 contemporary illuminations on view at York Minster through Lent.
Step Into The Picture - The Life Of Jesus Through The Eyes Of The Artist will run in the Chapter House until April 14, in an exhibition of paintings commissioned by the Diocese of Oxford for a book to be published by Barnabas in the autumn.
The works were first unveiled by the Bishop of Oxford at Douai Abbey in May 2003 and will visit Sheffield Catholic Cathedral in May 2004, Lincoln Cathedral in June and July and the Cathedral of Bath and Wells in August.
The Acting Dean of York Minster, Canon Glyn Webster, says: "I hope that Paul's work can be used as a focus for contemplation and reflection during Lent. His vivid images take us to the heart of Jesus's life on earth and provide an opportunity for people to think what his life, death and resurrection means to them."
