Selby Town FC and manager Bob Lyon have been hauled up on FA misconduct charges following Lyon's remarks in the match-day programme from the recent Pickering Town game.

Lyon, who was ordered to pay £150 compensation, £800 costs and do 80 hours of community service after head-butting Pikes secretary Alan Brenkley during a game in October 2001, wrote comments including: "We welcome the team that owes me over £1,000 and 80 hours of my life" in the programme for the Selby v Pickering game two weeks ago, upsetting Pikes officials.

An official charge has now been laid by the West Riding County FA to both Lyon for writing the notes and the club for publishing them. They have two weeks to respond.

Selby, meanwhile, face a must-win game at home to Ossett Town at the top of the Northern Counties East League premier division tomorrow.

Lyon has warned his side they must secure all three points - or kiss goodbye to their promotion dreams.

"We are five points behind them. If we win we are just two behind, level on games, with everything to play for.

"But if we lose we go eight points adrift. I don't think we can come back from that. We must win this."

Lyon was dealt an injury blow with 'keeper Matthew Potter ruled out with a knee injury. He will be replaced by Tom Rider.

Harrogate Railway have lost fans' favourite Steve Davey to Goole on a transfer.

Davey found himself on the bench for last Saturday's 5-0 thrashing of Brodsworth Welfare after only recently returning from a six-week ban.

Railway boss Martin Haresign said: "It's a bit disappointing but if he doesn't want to be here then that's how it goes."

Davey has been a Rail stalwart for a number of years, scoring in the famous FA Cup game against Bristol Rovers last season.

Fit-again assistant boss Ian Blackstone replaces him for the trip to Glapwell.

Goole co-manager Jimmy Reid, however, is delighted to have Davey on board, especially after he scored on his debut in a 5-1 win at Eccleshill United on Wednesday.

He said: "He's a bit short of match fitness but he is a prolific scorer and we are hoping he will put away some of the chances we have been missing recently."

Goole make the tough trip to Sheffield with Adam Wash back on the bench after missing the midweek game due to work commitments. Mark Willoughby will also return from an ankle injury.

Pete Vasey (university) and Alex Willgrass (flu) both return for Pickering Town's game at Mickleover Sports with boss Steve Brown fired up to put Tuesday night's debacle against nine-man Glapwell behind them.

The Pikes ended up drawing 2-2 despite two men being sent off for their hosts before half time.

Brown said: "The good thing about Tuesday is that it showed us we can't be complacent so hopefully it will serve as a wake-up call."

Harrogate Town, meanwhile, are on a similar mission at second-placed Droylsden in the UniBond League premier division.

Manager John Reed said: "They are tremendous going forward but they do concede."

Town face the battle without the talents of Glenn Naylor, who scored all four in a 4-4 home draw against Droylsden earlier in the season but is currently waiting for a scan on a knee.

Marc Smith is rated at 50-50 for the tie but Robbie Whellans will come back in line for his first start in weeks after scoring off the bench on Saturday.

Tadcaster Albion host promotion hopefuls Garforth Town in division one of the NCE League.
