New Leeds United director Peter Lorimer says Eddie Gray's future lies at Elland Road and has branded as a "maniac" anyone who would consider letting him go.
Gray, who was assistant to David O'Leary when the Whites reached the Champions League semi-finals three years ago, is in his second spell as Leeds manager.
Former skipper Gordon Strachan has been linked with a return to management with Leeds during the summer, fuelling fears among fans that Gray will be shown the door.
But Lorimer said: "Eddie Gray will remain at Elland Road beyond the end of this season. There is no question about that.
"I think any person who lets somebody with the talent of Eddie Gray leave a football club would be a maniac.
"He has too much to offer in all departments. He is a realist who knows all about footballers."
During his 40-year association with Leeds, Gray has filled a variety of roles including spells in charge of the reserve and youth teams.
He received special dispensation from the Premier League to become caretaker boss at Leeds following Peter Reid's sacking in November despite not having the necessary coaching badges.
Lorimer believes keeping Leeds in the Premiership this season would underline Gray's coaching abilities and boost his claims of getting the manager's job on a permanent basis.
The Leeds director said: "Let's hope Eddie keeps the team up and I don't think there will be a problem. It is automatic to say what would happen. He would have to get his coaching badge, though."
Meanwhile, new chairman Gerald Krasner is asking for a chance to prove himself when meeting United supporters at Elland Road tonight.
The new board have arranged a fans' forum to outline their plans to the club's supporters with the first 500 to turn up for the 7.30pm meeting in the Banqueting Suite to be admitted.
Krasner said: "Leeds United have always had the greatest supporters in the country. I have to say I'm looking forward to meeting as many of them as possible at the supporters' meeting.
"I will answer the shareholders and the supporters and I hope they will be able to take some comfort from what I have to say.
"All I am asking for is a fair hearing. The fans have heard so many promises that have been broken in the past. They will not hear so many promises from me."
The new board intend on making the forum a regular event as they attempt to rebuild trust between the club and supporters.
