THE victim of a stag party prank who sneaked naked into a student house and fell asleep on the stairs has returned to the property to say sorry.
York University student Chris Davis said he was relieved the embarrassed bridegroom-to-be turned out to be a neighbour - not some "madman" off the streets.
The man at the brunt of the stag night joke also returned the T-shirt that he borrowed to cover his modesty as he made his way home in the early hours.
Political philosophy student Chris said: "He borrowed a long Levi's T-shirt from our house. We didn't see any more of him and we were getting a bit nervous. He could have been a madman."
The Evening Press reported last week how a group of York students had found the naked man on the stairs of their home in Bishophill Senior.
Chris, 24, said: "This guy told us he only lived three doors up the road, so when we heard nothing I went and knocked on his door. He'd washed the T-shirt and was really apologetic and embarrassed. He came round and spoke to us all and told us about his wedding."
Chris said his red-faced neighbour had dived for cover into the house when he spotted a group heading towards the nearby youth hostel.
"My housemate had gone to Leeds for the night and forgotten his keys, so he asked us to leave the door unlocked.
"This man didn't want to be seen naked and when he saw the group and our door was off the latch, in he came.
"It was a bit of a shock to find him on the stairs. But it's reassuring to know that everything he told us was true."
