WHAT a pity Prince Charles and the Government are not supporting the campaign to bring the Flying Scotsman to York's National Railway Museum.
After all, they did so much to save the Three Graces for the nation and look how many, of all ages, flock to see that.
The Flying Scotsman is part of our heritage and a glowing tribute to industrial achievement for the benefit of all, not just a tiny intellectual clique.
This is one of those rare occasions when national leaders should unite on our behalf and act to keep the engine in Britain.
If the Government can't place an export ban on the engine, then why not revert to its traditions for once and nationalise the Flying Scotsman?
